THE TARGET FOR THIS YEAR’S ALFRED 6 HOUR RACE IS $15,000.

WITH YOUR SUPPORT THESE FUNDS WILL USED TO PURCHASE A CARDIAC MONITOR FOR THE ALFRED’S EXPANDED TRAUMA SERVICE, A PURPOSE BUILT FACILITY DEDICATED TO THE EARLY RECOVERY OF TRAUMA PATIENTS.

The Alfred 6 Hour raises funds to support critical care services at The Alfred hospital.
The Alfred is a leader in healthcare, medical research and clinical education both nationally and internationally.  The majority of Victoria’s major trauma patients are treated at The Alfred and they are now seeing more trauma patients than ever before. To help manage this increasing trauma demand The Alfred plans to expand its Trauma Service. This visionary development will help create The Alfred’s first, purpose-built facility dedicated to the early recovery of trauma patients.

The expansion will include 40 new bed spaces and a series of dedicated treatment and therapy zones – helping The Alfred to provide progressive and supportive therapy while patients also have their acute care needs met in the days or weeks after their accident.

The funds raised through the 2017 Alfred 6 Hour event will be used to purchase a Cardiac Monitor for one of the 10 new single patient rooms that will be a feature of the new facility. The Cardiac Monitor provides a live reflection of the patient’s clinical state, recording blood pressure, heart-rate, heart rhythm and oxygen levels, so that urgent intervention can be carried out if the patient deteriorates or their life is at risk. This information is also monitored through a screen placed in the nurses’ station and provides a continuous record of patient data.

Equipping each room with the best equipment helps The Alfred to provide life-saving treatment to seriously injured patients, giving them the best chance to get better and go home to their loved ones.

Your support through the Alfred 6 Hour will help patients with serious injuries not only survive, but thrive.

Thank you for your support.
