The INCC Beginner program generally runs from October to April inclusive.

Due to high river levels and cold water from June to September we may not schedule any introductory courses.

The Beginner Program comprises three 2-hour sessions under the supervision of a Level 1 qualified coach, with all equipment provided. The program covers the safe use and handling of equipment and sufficient to develop basic flatwater paddling skills. Most participants will be able to paddle safely and confidently by the end of the program.

Participants should plan on getting very wet, so please bring a towel and a change of clothes.

Although a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) will be worn at all times during the course, participants still must to comfortable in deep water and should be able to swim 20 m.  If you cannot swim, please do not complete registration and contact the club at coach@incc.org.au if you need further information.

For each of the 3 sessions, please wear / bring:

  • shorts or bike pants
  • t-shirt (quick drying non cotton preferred) or if the weather is cool, a long sleeved thermal
  • reef shoes, booties or plastic sandals (no thick shoes, bulky soles or thongs,) - no bare feet
