2023 WomDomNom
Welcome!
"WomDomNom" is a fully supported organised four day 155km paddle starting from Wellington on Thursday 23 November 2023. It travels through Dubbo and onto Narromine over 4 days.
It is designed to be a recreational paddle, with an emphasis to encourage paddling on the Macquarie River. It is a fully supported paddle, with your camping equipment transported between camping spots. All meals and soft drinks are provided over the 4 days, and you will be on the water for roughly 6 hours per day.
This event is recommended for experienced kayakers. It involves long distances and river hazards and pre event training is advised. This event is not recommended for beginners, as basic paddle skills are essential and fitness and stamina are required. Must be able paddle at a speed of 6km per hour.
Why "WomDomNom"? It stands for Wellington on Macquarie (Wom), Dubbo on Macquarie (Dom), Narromine on Macquarie (Nom)!
The paddle costs are $80 per day, so $320 for the four (4) days. Please note, payment not required at time of entry - payment details will be sent out on 1 November 2023.
On day 1, Thursday 23 November 2023, the paddlers will travel 21km before stopping for the day at Ponto Falls reserve, where everyone will camp for the evening.
On day 2, Friday 24 November 2032, the paddlers will travel 54km to our overnight campsite, Lazy River, just outside Dubbo.
Day 3, Saturday 25 November 2023, the paddlers will travel 45km from Dubbo to our overnight campsite at Dickygundi Reserve.
On day 4, Sunday 26 November 2023, the paddlers will paddle 36km to Narromine, where the paddle will conclude.
The 2023 "WomDomNom" will again support the great work the "Black Dog Institute" does to help people suffering depression, Bipolar and other mental illnesses.
