ONLY 6 WEEKS TO ULTRA TRAIL AUSTRALIA from this run!!
Great chance for a Long Run on the UTA50 and 100 courses. This will be one of the longest runs in your training block for most of you. We will cap the time on course to 6 hours. Most runners will complete the 34km loop in 5-6 hours.
The experienced trainers from BLUE MOUNTAINS FITNESS have teamed up with THE BODY MECHANIC again. We have aligned our BMF UTA Training Runs with THE LOCKER ROOM UTA Base Training Plans (Beginner/Intermediate/Advance) and the Event Specific UTA22, UTA50 and UTA100 Training Plans.
This run lines up with Week 10 of THE LOCKER ROOM UTA Programs for 50km and 100km.This long run is a week ahead of the scheduled long run in The Locker Room program but we are avoiding the traffic mayhem in the Blue Mountains at Easter.
For more info on The Locker Room Training Plans check out -

This BMF UTA Training Run is a loop circuit from QV Hospital (34km). It is a mix of the hard stairs section of Leg 1 of UTA50 (Leg 3 of 100) and Leg 2 of UTA50 (Leg 3 of UTA100). Highlights - Kedumba, Sublime Pt Ridge, Leura Stairs, Prince Henry Cliff Top Track.
For the fitter, faster runners there will be some extra k's (around 6km and options to do more on course) - we'll organize the extra K's when we get the bookings.
There are two distance options:
Option 1 Normal QV Loop - 34km start/finish at QV
QV - Kedumba - Sublime Pt Trail - Leura Cascades - Gordon Falls - Fairmont - Kings Tableland - QV.
We will stick to a 5-6 hour maximum run time. There will be a retrieval vehicle available for anyone not going to make it back to QVH by the cut off time. This worked well in the past years and everyone got a great long run in.
Option 2 Shorter QV Loop - finish at Fairmont
We will stop at The Fairmont at 24km into the Normal QV Loop. If you want this option please let us know in your registration or if you have already entered please email us as we need to organise car shuttles pre training run.
Option 3 Extra Km plus QV Loop - start/finish at QV
We will do extra km at the start and along the course. Up to 40+km available.
BLUE MOUNTAINS FITNESS is one of only a few companies with a National Parks and Wildlife ECO PASS licence to carry out run training on the Ultra Trail Australia course. We have been training runners to complete the arduous North Face and UTA course for the last 12 years. We have highly experienced trainers who know the trails better than most. In the last normal year(!) 2019 we trained 584 runners over the various distances of UTA with hugely successful completion rate. We are locals. We know the course back to front! We have trainers that have been on the podium, won age groups, done all the UTA different distance events and even a trainer that has done every single UTA100 event!
WHY?: Perfect last long training run on the UTA50 and UTA100 course before the start of a well earned taper. This will also be a good training run for the 22km runners if they are looking for some hill training on Kedumba and Sublime Point Trail.
CAR SHUTTLES: Only for the shorter 24km option - We will organize car shuttles for the day if required. We will send out information on this closer to race day.
GEAR: We will be using this as a race day prep run and ask you to bring the UTA50/UTA100 Mandatory gear -
https://www.ultratrailaustralia.com.au/races/50km/mandatory-gear
TIME: The time taken to do this run will depend on which pace group you start with.
Last year we had runners finish the loop of 34km in 5-6.5 hours.
START TIMES:
24 and 34km - 7am for Turtles (Slower pace group), 7.30am for Hares (Faster pace group).
40+km - 6.15am - A few km early on (optional) to warm up and then head on the course.
There will be options to swap pace groups during the day to suit your pace.
NUTRITION: Please bring enough fuel for this amount of time. There will be water stops organized along the run but please be self-sufficient for about 4 hours - 1.5 to 2 litres fluids. Bring enough nutrition for 5-7 hours.
INFO SHEET: A full information sheet will be sent to all participants prior to the training day.
This will include meeting points, training course map, PDF Map link, instructions etc.
ENTRY FEES: The fees for this event are:
$75 STANDARD - plus a small booking fee if you book through Register Now.
Remember we are fully licensed and fully insured National Parks ECO PASS company. We arrange transport back to your cars after the training. Training with companies that are not National Parks licenced, uninsured, with unqualified/inexperienced trainers with no risk management plans is a recipe for disaster.
PROMO CODE: If you have run with BMF before you are welcome to use a promotional code that we will email you.
