Welcome to the 2022 ACT Primary Schools Championships
The event will be held at The Pinnacle off Springvale Drive (Weetangera) on Wednesday 23rd November, 2022.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY SO THAT THE REGISTRATION PROCESS MAKES SENSE:
Entries
are open to all ACT Primary School students in years 3 - 6. For children
in Years 2 and below, if you have orienteered before and can complete a
very easy course unassisted, please contact the organisers to discuss
possible entry.
Students can elect to compete either individually or in pairs. Pairs consist of
a team of 2 students of any gender, but must be representing the same
school and fall within the same age category (either 10 and under, or 11 and over)
Individual competitors will compete in either the boys or girls category.
There are 4 age categories for individual competitors:
9 years and under (born in 2013 or later)
10 years (born in 2012)
11 years (born in 2011)
12 years and over (born 2010 or earlier)
There are 2 age categories for pairs competitors:
10 years and under pairs (born in 2012 or later)
11 years and over pairs (born in 2011 or earlier)
Age groups are determined by the age as of 31st December, 2022.
Courses for the 9 and 10 years age-groups, as well as pairs-10-and-under are very easy standard.
Courses for the 11 and 12 years age groups as well as pairs-11-and-over are easy standard.
Course lengths range from 1.5km to 3.0km depending on the age group.
All courses will have the option of following linear features (e.g. tracks, fences, power lines) on all legs.
ENTRY FEES: $15 individual competitor, or $30 per pair.
(LATE ENTRY FEES: $20 individual competitor, or $40 per pair.)
How to enter the ACT Primary Schools Championships
To enter as an individual you will
need your name, date of birth, school name, a valid email address, and a
Visa or MasterCard. Individuals should ignore question 3- 7 in the special questions section of the entry.
If entering as a pair, you will require
the name, date of birth, school name and valid email address for BOTH
competitors. You only need to submit ONE ENTRY FOR EACH PAIR: enter the name of the first member of the pair, and then in the special questions, you enter the details of the second member of the pair.
LOCATION
The event is being held at The Pinnacle, off Springvale Drive in Weetangera.
START TIMES
Arrive at the venue by 9:45am for a 10:15am briefing. All competitors must register on the day before 10am. Starts are from 10:30am. Presentations will be held as soon as results are finalised at the completion of the event, around 1:30pm.
PARKING
Please park in the open car park which will be sign-posted from Springvale Drive. Please aware that this area will be used by other members of the public and park with consideration. Please be careful of cyclist and runners on the road and in the car park.
Catering
There will be no catering at this event. Please bring your own food and drinks.

Dangers
By entering you agree that you are aware that like other bush sports
there are inherent dangers in orienteering. It is possible to become
unsure of your location during this event.

Parents/carers are encouraged to stay during the event.
Photography
Photos and videos will be taken at the event. Unless you email allisonjones@me.com to the contrary, you agree that your child's photograph may be used for publicity and promotional purposes by Orienteering ACT.
Training opportunities
If kids (and their parents) want to try to improve their orienteering there are a number of events on in the months ahead. For examples SC-ORE, a school based relay for Primary school children and our regular events
