All events will have one round of poules followed by a direct elimination round, fenced for all places from the round of 8.

Where there are less than six entries in any Age\Gender\Weapon Event at close of Normal Entries these entries will be either merged with the other gender in the same age group OR merged into the next age group.

Individuals affected will be notified by the DT as soon as arrangements are finalised

This change will not warrant any refund to the fencers being merged into another group.

 

Affiliations
Please note that all competitors must be affiliated members of Fencing New Zealand or if you are an overseas competitor you must be affiliated to your national body. Go to fencing.org.nz/membership to affiliate with your relevant region. Affiliations of all competitors will be checked at time of entry.


Competition Format

Round of poules followed by elimination (bouts to 15 hits). Separate events will be held for each gender, and for Open
and Veteran age categories.
Multiple discipline entry: If you are entered in multiple disciplines and the next discipline is
scheduled to begin while you are still competing, you will be scratched from the then
starting discipline and expected to continue competing in the ongoing discipline. No
refunds will be provided.
Medals: Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd equal placings.
Non-combativity: FIE rule t.124, non-combativity will be implemented at this competition.
Podium protocol: All fencers must wear either their club jacket, regional or FeNZ tracksuit
jacket, breeches or tracksuit pants, fencing socks and shoes while on podium. No hats,
sunglasses or other similar attire are to be worn on the podium during presentation.
Video refereeing: The use of video refereeing is yet to be determined. If used, video
referees will be used for the final bout of all events. In all cases, it will be used at the
discretion of the Head DT and Head Referee. Video footage will be used purely to review
decisions and will not be released post competition.


Equipment Standards
All clothing and equipment must be in a good state of repair and cleanliness.
Torso: 350N (CEN 1) or 800N (CEN 2) (jacket & plastron 1150N total)
Breeches: 350N (CEN 1)
Gloves: 800 N (CEN 1) (sabre only)
Chest protector: Compulsory for women’s events.
Foil: Lamé bibs (curly mask wires are not permitted) and FIE blades
required, Bayonet and 2 pin body wires accepted.

Épée: FIE blades required. Leon Paul SR-71 blades that are stamped 2013 to
2015 will not be accepted. Leon Paul V blade without a unique serial
number will not be accepted.

Sabre: FIE blades S2000 or later blades required. Curly mask wires are not permitted.

Masks & Bibs: 350N (CEN 1)
The FIE 2018 strapping system requirements are now compulsory. All
masks must adhere to the Fencing New Zealand Masks Weapon
Control Requirements effective from May 2021.

Weapons control time are TBC

Control marks: It is the fencer’s responsibility to ensure that all equipment that goes
through weapons control has control marks. It is the fencer’s responsibility to ensure control
marks are still present every time they go to the piste

Entry conditions: By registering as a participant in this tournament, you are agreeing to abide by the rules of fencing as set out by the FIE, OFC, Fencing New Zealand, and any directions given by the organisers in relation to the running of the tournament.

 

You agree that you fence at your own risk, and that should emergency medical care need be sought, that this is at your own expense in the event of sudden accident or illness. You agree to abide by all applicable Fencing New Zealand rules including the FeNZ Health and Safety Policy and the Fencers Code of Conduct.


Anti-doping: By participating in this event, you agree that you have been warned of the potential of being selected for anti-doping testing and you will comply with anti-doping
testing if required. The testing process and your rights and responsibilities as an athlete are outlined in the Drug Free Sport NZ website.

 Wellbeing agreement

I agree to withdraw from this competition if I am feeling unwell on the day of the competition. I agree to submit to having my temperature checked by the medical officer if the DT requires. If my temperature is taken and it is 38C or higher I agree to withdraw from the competition and leave the venue.


Photography:

Photography is allowed at this Fencing New Zealand competitions. The competition venue is considered a public space.

Non public spaces with full respect of privacy are the changing rooms and the toilets. No photography is allowed in there.

Please do not change in public spaces. If you do, you waive your right to privacy.

Pictures taken at the event can be published on social media, the internet and printed media by Fencing North and Fencing New Zealand, spectators and competitors.

 Withdrawals: In the event that you must withdraw from the competition or an event, youmust notify the tournament organiser or Head DT either by emailing hjclaydon@outlook.com or calling (+64)27 329 6370 a minimum of one hour
before registrations for the event open.

The discretionary late entry is from 08/APR/2022 to the 14/APR/ 2022 and is $110.00 plus cc fees.

DT and organizers have the right to close entries early in case they have reached full capacity.
