Here we go for the 10th running of the The Glow Worm Tunnel Trail Weekend!
After the succesful relaunch of the event in 2021, Summit Gear Katoomba and Blue Mountains Fitness are ready to present a massive, fun weekend of trail running for all the family and for all abilities.
LaSportiva are on board as our main sponsor and Tailwind Australia is the supplier of the on course race fuel. T8 will also provide sponsor prizes.
This is the schedule of events:
Friday PM - Mystery Mountain Dash is back 300m+ climb in just over a kilometre.
Saturday AM - Marathon - back to the first leg going aover the Pipeline Track to Glen Davis and back. 2nd leg is the Half Marathon course.
Saturday AM - Half Marathon - same course as 2021
Saturday PM - Ted English Bolt Ruins Run - same course as 2021
Sunday AM - Half Marathon - same course as 2021
Sunday PM - Kids 1km - same course as 2021
NEW Event - Family Pairs Half Marathon Sunday - Last year we had many requests for kids under 16 to run the Half Marathon so we have come up with a new event. An adult and child aged 12-15 can run together in gthe half marathon. You both run as a Team together all the way. Your time will be gthe collective time of both runners. You will still be counted in the Half Marathon times also. If you are spotted not running together you will be disqualified. This event is only available on the Sunday. Minimum age is 12 for the child and 18 for the accompanying adult. You do not have to be related as family members.
The Kids 1km will be open to all kids Under 12. Registration for this event will be online and on the day at the event hub.
For those wanting an extra tough challenge we have the Grand Slam consisiting of all 4 events over the 3 days.
For any other combinations - for example 6km Ted English Bolt Runs Run Saturday/Half Marathon Sunday - you will have to enter yourself individually in two separate processes.
If you want to enter yourself and friends or family in one entry process this will be available at the end of each persons entry process.
Prizes - There will be Overall Winner trophies in the Grand Slam, Marathon, both Half Marathons, Ted English Bolt 6km and Family Teams Pairs.
Sponsor prizes will be available for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in all overall podium places .Age group prizes will be for 16-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. The Mountain Mile will have a $100 cash prize for 1st Female and 1st Male. 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Family Teams Pairs arce will be awarded prizes.
There will be a special prize - The Tailwind Nutrition Community Spirit award. It will be awarded post event from people nominating someone that has given up their race, or taken their time to volunteer, or in some way or form helped others over and above themselves at Glow Worm Trail Weekend.
This event will sell out. The camping at Newnes will sell out. We recommend you get the entries in and camping booked as soon as possible.
Due to National Park COVID restrictions camping is currently limited at the Newnes campsites. We are trying to organize alternative camping options for the weekend at private venues in the area.
Entertainment on Saturday evening is booked - Outdoor Cinema from Blue Mountains Trail Films and a Live Band and Bar. The best GWT weekends in the past have been the ones with entertainment in the evening! Again with COVID restrictions possibly limiting what we can provide we will be give details on this later.
Transfers, Cancellations, Event Distance changes are covered in the waiver details. The transfer fee to another person is $25. Details on how to do this will be available on the website. To change events you can swap to an event of same distance or less distance for a fee of $25 either payable in advance via a transfer email/process or with a paper form and payable on day. This will be dependant on event capacity not being overbooked. More details on these processes will be available on the website. See full Terms and Conditions on website.
