ONLY 6 WEEKS TO ULTRA TRAIL AUSTRALIA from this Long Run 34-45km

Great chance for a Long Run on the UTA50 and 100 courses.

This year the experienced trainers from BLUE MOUNTAINS FITNESS have teamed up with THE BODY MECHANIC. We will align our BMF UTA Training Runs with THE LOCKER ROOM UTA Base Training Plans (Beginner/Intermediate/Advance) and the Event Specific UTA22, UTA50 and UTA100 Training Plans.

This run lines up with week 10 of THE LOCKER ROOM 16 Week UTA50 and UTA100 Programs.

For more info on The Locker Room Training Plans check out -

https://www.tbmlockerroom.com/ultra_trail_australia_training_plan/

The main activity of the BMF UTA Training Run is a loop circuit from QV Hospital. It is a mix of the hard stairs section of Leg 1 of UTA50 (Leg 3 of 100) and Leg 2 of UTA50 (Leg 3 of UTA100 and the UTA22 course). Highlights - Kedumba, Sublime Pt Ridge, Leura Stairs, Prince Henry Cliff Top Track.

For the fitter, faster runners there will be some extra k's  - we'll organize the extra K's when we get closer to the run day..

We will stick to around the 6 hour maximum run time. There will be a retrieval vehicle available for anyone not going to make it back to QVH by the 6 hour time. This worked well in the past three years and everyone got a great long run in.

BLUE MOUNTAINS FITNESS is one of only a few companies with a National Parks and Wildlife ECO PASS licence to carry out run training on the Ultra Trail Australia course. We have been training runners to complete the arduous UTA course for the last 11 years. We have highly experienced trainers who know the trails better than most. In 2019 we trained 584 runners over the various distances of UTA with hugely successful completion rate. We are locals. We know the course back to front! We have trainers that have been on the podium, won age groups, done all the UTA different distance events and even a trainer that has done every single UTA100 event!

WHY?: Perfect long training run 6 weeks out from race day on the UTA50 and UTA100 courses.

THE COURSE: This training run will start and finish at Queen Victoria Hospital. A mix of UTA50 and UTA100.

DESCRIPTION: This run is based on the UTA50/100 course. We will follow the UTA50/100 course from Queen Victoria Hospital, down Kedumba, up Sublime Pt Ridge Trail, up Leura Stairs (which you do on Leg 1 of UTA50 and Leg 3 of UTA100) to Leura Cascades. We then follow the UTA50/100 courses along the cliff top back to QVH.

DISTANCE OPTIONS:

Option 1: QVH to QVH - 34km loop via Kedumba, Sublime Pt Ridge, Leura Stairs, Wentworth Falls

Option 2: Extra 6-11km plus above.

CAR SHUTTLES: We will organise car shuttles for the day if required. We will send out information on this closer to race day.

GEAR: We will be using this as a race day prep run and ask you to bring the UTA50/UTA100 Mandatory gear -

https://www.ultratrailaustralia.com.au/races/50km/mandatory-gear

TIME: The time taken to do this run will depend on which pace group you start with.

Last year we had runners finish the 34-45km in 5-7 hours.

START TIMES:

34km - 7am for Turtles (Slower pace group), 7.30am for Hares (Faster pace group). If needed we have an even faster group - start time 8am for the Gazellles!

40km - 6.30am - A few km early on (optional) to warm up and then head on the course.

45km - 6.00am - We'll add another 5km of distance to the above Extra Km plus Standard 34km loop.

There will be options to swap pace groups during the day to suit your pace.

NUTRITION: Please bring enough fuel for this amount of time. There will be water stops organized along the run but please be self-sufficient for about 2 hours - 1 to 1.5 litres fluids. Bring enough nutrition for 5-7 hours.

INFO SHEET: A full information sheet will be sent to all participants prior to the training day.
This will include meeting points, training course map, PDF Map link, instructions etc.

ENTRY FEES: The fees for this event are:

$75 STANDARD - plus a small booking fee if you book through Register Now.

Remember we are fully licensed and fully insured National Parks ECO PASS company. We arrange transport back to your cars after the training. Training with companies that are not National Parks licenced, uninsured, with unqualified/inexperienced trainers with no risk management plans is a recipe for disaster.

PROMO CODE: If you have run with BMF before you are welcome to use a promotional code that we will email you.
