The BCC GOAT Gravel Ride

Heading out the back way from the lovely rural township of Strathfieldsaye, The BCC GOAT Gravel Ride takes you through a small housing estate before hitting the gravel just 1,500 metres from the start. You will take in a few gentle climbs, passing farms with sheep, goats and cows, give them a wave. You will then take on a short bitumen section before some lovely rolling climbs on gravel roads.

Turning left onto Emu Creek Road gives you a short climb and longer downhill on hard service before heading toward bushland.

The route then takes you along the local gravel roads through bushland before turning onto a short section of single track through the trees and out onto beautiful rolling hills with stunning scenery. Look out for the Aid Station at 27km.

You will wind your way into Axedale at the 50km mark where you will find a toilet block, water, a shop and pub with great coffee. Then it’s under the highway and along the lovely Campaspe River before climbing back toward Axedale. The course soon picks up the O'Keefe Rail Trail for a gentle ride back toward Bendigo.

Turn left onto Somerset Park Road, then right and down the hill turning into Sinclairs Lane and left into Sullivans Road where you will follow the sealed bike path back to Braidie’s Tavern for a well-deserved drink and a meal. Don't be fooled, there is some work in this ride but the scenery is simply awesome....enjoy!
