Welcome to the Triathlon Victoria Mixed Team Relay Duathlon - Club Championship.

We are excited to offer MTR racing as part of the Victorian racing calendar, and offer a format which celebrates all of our affiliated clubs and provides a chance for clubs to chase club bragging rights!

Being a club championship, and wishing to involve as many clubs as possible, there are some "rules of participation":

Brief event overview

(presented as FAQ)

  1. What awards will be awarded? What’s their eligibility? How will the “club championship” be calculated/awarded?
    1. Club Championship:
      1. Only clubs whose team/s comprise 2 M/2 F from their club will be eligible for the championship.
      2. A club’s first team across the line will be eligible for club championship medals/placings/championship’.
    2. Para Championship (IST):
      1. Only team/s comprising 2 M/2 F will be eligible for the championship.
      2. The first IST team across the line will also be eligible for the “club championship” per the above rules.
    3. Fastest team of the day:
      1. All teams participating on the day will be eligible for this award.
    4. All awards will be calculated by aggregating the results for all teams across all heats (i.e. each award awarded once).

  2. What if clubs/teams can’t achieve 2 F/2 M within their club?
    1. Clubs may enter an incomplete team (e.g. 2 members of 1 gender and 1 member of other gender); but the 1 member of one gender must complete the course twice, to have the team complete 2 male and 2 female legs of the race.
    2. Clubs may make composite teams (e.g. 2-3 members from 1 club and 1-2 members from another club).
      1. Both of these type of teams would be ineligible for “club championship” (awarded as 1st/2nd/3rd places).
      2. However, all teams are eligible for the “fastest team across the line” award (awarded as only 1st place).

  3. What does the customer journey look like to enter the event?
    1. Per RegisterNow – only ‘team entries’ enabled; with a ‘team captain’ (x 1) and ‘team member’ (x 3); where team captain establishes the team and provides entry/team link to other team members, enabling them to enter and pay individually.
    2. Teams enter the event, not a specific race time (explained in detail under ‘categories & distances’).

Categories & distances

  • The event will be separated into 2 heats (9am and 1030am).
    • Once teams entered/event sold out/entries close, teams are allocated to one of the races (as a starting point, clubs ranked by member size per proposal appendix – June 2021 member count. Within the clubs entered, top half in member count into a ‘big club’ race while lower half into a ‘small club’ race).
    • Teams can then be moved between races based on factors such as (not limited to): perceived team ability (e.g. presence of a professional) thus safety; balance of 2/2 and imbalanced teams; etc. at discretion of LOC and in consultation with affected teams.
  • The course is 1km loop and races will be non-drafting. Meaning, maximum of 25 teams per event is the maximum that can race safely and fairly.
  • Race will be 1km/4km/400m per participant (4 per team).
  • Event cost is $33/person.
