The How to use economics in natural hazards management training course is backed by Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC research from the University of Western Australia. Offered as free training, the course will upskill and build capacity within the emergency management sector so that natural hazard managers and practitioners feel more confident to both commission and use economic information to aid their decision making.
The initial response to the course was strong, and as a result an additional two groups will now run. The new dates are
Group 3 - Tuesday 20 April, Tuesday 27 April, Tuesday 4 May, Tuesday 11 May. - SOLD OUT
Group 4 - Thursday 13 May, Thursday 20 May, Thursday 27 May, Thursday 3 June.- SOLD OUT
We anticipate that these additional groups will fill quickly. Preference will be given to attendees from organisations that are members of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC please see below further information about member organisations.
The free course is intended for natural hazard managers, practitioners and emergency management personnel that wish to improve their understanding of economic evaluation methods for mitigation of natural hazards.
The training will take place online over Zoom. Dates are available on the next page. Please note, there is a minimum number of attendees required for each group for the course to run. If the minimum number has not been reached, those registered will be advised. Likewise, there is a maximum number of attendees for each group.
Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC members
If your organisation is a member of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC, you can access this free training course. Spaces however are limited due to the online nature of the training. If your preferred group is full, please try another group or email vaia.smirnoes@bnhcrc.com.au to be placed on the waiting list.
If you are unsure if your organisation is a member, see the participating organisations list on the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC website. Please note that organisations listed as 'collaborators' are not members of the CRC.
Non members
The training course is open to people whose organisation is not a member of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC. However, preference will be given to attendees who are from an organisation that is a member of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC, as spaces are limited. Not sure if your organisation is a member? If your organisation is not a member, please email vaia.smirneos@bnhcrc.com.au to be put on the waitlist. If space allows, the course will be open to those on the waitlist from any organisation. There will be no charge for non members of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC.
