Maximum 300 entries.
Long Course 2.1km - Pee Wee's, on the beach below restaurant
Short Course 1.2km - Lake Alexander entrance
Both courses will finish at The Darwin Trailer Boat Club
Darwin's Fannie Bay Swim Classic is the only open water ocean swim in
Darwin and provides a social and community occasion that is focused on
the healthy sport of swimming. A major focus of the day is to encourage
awareness that swimming is a lifelong sport and exercise, participation
and competition is available for all age groups. In 2019 there were 250
competitors, this is Darwin SLSC largest fundraising event of the
year.
8:00 - 9.00am: Race numbering @ Lake Alexander beach side car park
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SWIM IF YOU ARRIVE AFTER 9:15am
9.15am: Compulsory RACE BRIEFING near the Toilet block opposite Lake Alexander
10:00am: Race start (wave 1 entrants and Fun category in the long course)
10:15am: Race start (wave 2 entrants long course, & short course entrants, including short course Fun Category)
Swimmers to make their own way to the start line
There will be a container for shoes/thongs to go from the two start lines to the finish line
Registrations
$55 online registration only (closes Wednesday 14 July at Midnight)
No refunds and no name swaps if you cannot participate after registering
Competitors will receive a drawstring bag and visor.
Swimsuit Rules
No swimmer in open categories (ALL categories other than FUN)
shall be permitted to use or wear any device which may be an aid in
their speed, endurance or buoyancy. An approved swimsuit, goggles, a
maximum of 2 swim caps, nose peg and ear plugs may be used.
Fun Category
This is a fun event where competitors can use fins, snorkels, wetsuits, pull buoys.
This category is not eligible for medals.
You can wear whatever swimsuit you desire if you register for the FUN Category only.
Timing Chips
This years race will
see the introduction of timing chips. If you already own one from the
Darwin Runners & Walkers Club or Darwin Triathlon Club you will be
asked for its number at the online registration stage and you will need
to bring and use your chip on race day. We have a limited number of
chips so this is important.
Those that do not have a timing chip will be allocated one at
numbering. These will need to be returned immediately after leaving the
water. Please remove and place in the buckets provided.
Presentations
Presentations will be held after the last competitor finishes at the Darwin Trailer Boat Club
Long Course & Short Course: First Age category, Male and Female
LUCKY DOOR PRIZES will be drawn BEFORE presentations and you must be there to collect
