Summit Gear Katoomba and Blue Mountains Fitness have taken over the event from MountainsSports. Rob and Tony are passionate trail runners and we think the event is in good hands!
Most of the course has survived the bushfires and floods. Parks are busy fixing up any problems on the trail. We have put together some awesome events and combinations. Entry numbers are limited.
LaSportiva are on board as our main sponsor and Tailwind Australia is the supplier of the on course race fuel.
This is the schedule of events:
Saturday AM - Marathon, Half Marathon, 1st Leg of 2 Day Marathon
Saturday PM - Ted English Bolt Ruins Run
Sunday AM - Half Marathon,
Sunday PM - Kids 1km
Sunday PM - Mountain Mile
The new 2 Day Marathon gives you the chance to complete the tough Glow Worm Tunnel Marathon course over two days. Do the first leg over Pipeline and back and around the ruins on Day 1 and on Day 2 do the second leg of the Marathon (the Half Marathon course).
The Kids 1km will be open to all kids Under 12. Registration for this event will be on the day and is not included in the Register Now event entry process. Register at event hub.
For the hard core ultra runners we'll have 3 new combination events:
The Double - Marathon Saturday/Half Marathon Sunday
The Triple Crown - Marathon and 6km Saturday/Half Marathon Sunday
The Grand Slam - Marathon and 6km Saturday/Half Marathon and Mountain Mile 1.30pm Sunday
For any other combinations - for example 6km Ted English Bolt Runs Run Saturday/Half Marathon Sunday - you will have to enter yourself individually in two separate processes.
If you want to enter yourself and friends or family in one entry process this will be available at the end of each persons entry process.
Prizes - There will be Overall Winner trophies in the Marathon, both Half Marathons, 2 Day Marathon, Ted English Bolt 6km, The Double, Triple Crown and Grand Slam. Sponsor prizes will be available for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in all overall podium places .Age group prizes will be for 16-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. The Mountain Mile will have a $100 cash prize for 1st Female and 1st Male.
The Mystery Mountain Dash has been cancelled this year due to the bushfire damage on the trail and we have added a Mountain Mile from Koopartoo Crossing through 4 Ways and onwards to the 1600m distance/180+ vert gain.
There will be a special prize - The Tailwind Nutrition Community Spirit award. It will be awarded post event from people nominating someone that has given up their race, or taken their time to volunteer, or in some way or form helped others over and above themselves at Glow Worm Trail Weekend.
Due to National Park COVID restrictions camping is currently limited at the Newnes campsites. We are trying to organize alternative camping options for the weekend. Information regarding camping (and shuttle buses if required) will be provided when we are certain of the options.
Entertainment on Saturday evening is booked - Outdoor Cinema from Blue Mountains Trail Films and a Live Band and Bar. The best GWT weekends in the past have been the ones with entertainment in the evening! Again with COVID restrictions possibly limiting what we can provide we will be give details on this later.
Transfers, Cancellations, Event Distance changes is covered in the waiver details. The transfer fee to another person is $25. Details on how to do this will be available on the website. To change events you can swap to an event of same distance or less distance for a fee of $10 either payable in advance via a transfer email/process or with a paper form and payable on day. More details on these processes will be available on the website.
