MAKING THEATRE EVERYWHERE MASTERCLASS
CREATING SITE-SPECIFIC WORK FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SPACES
WITH DR ALAN HANCOCK
A practical and hands-on course that you will learn how to create theatre for a specific place.
You’ll find out how professional companies use impro, imagination and research to make site-specific performance.
You will work at sites both indoor and outdoor, from the tiny – a corridor, doorway or balcony – to the huge – a car park, sports field, or town square.
You will try out processions and journey theatre and experiment with performer/audience relations and interactive theatre.
You’ll explore the world around you, and allow your experience of place to spark your theatrical imagination.
This course will encourage you to go deeper with your theatre work. It will be challenging, and fun.
About Dr Alan Hancock
Alan Hancock is an experienced educator, theatre director, writer and performer. He has taught in the Contemporary Performance course at ECU-WAAPA and worked with student groups to devise performances for public spaces over decades. His drama scripts have been produced by BBC Radio and ABC RN, and performed by a number of theatre companies and he has performed his solo show – ‘Stand-up Storytelling for Grown-ups’ – throughout WA.
