For crafts with multiple paddlers (doubles, relay race and OC6s) the captain of the team will need to register online. Additional paperwork for the rest of the team will be completed on the day when you re-register.

Macleay Island Classic Main Event
The Macleay Island Classic main event is open to all craft including Surf skis, double skis, Oc1, OC2 and SUPs.
Prize money will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd male & female passed the post. (Singles).
Prize money will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd male & female OC1s.
SUPs First male and female.
Category medals will be awarded to the winner of each category; Age and craft.
Starting at the Tingira Boat Club to circumnavigate Macleay Island in an anticlockwise direction and finish back at the Tingira Boat Club.
Registrations open 7.00 am
You must confirm registration on the day.
Any competitor who decides to not race or pulls out of the race after they have re-registered on the day must notify an official.

High tide: Oct. 31, 9.40am - 2.23m

Team/Group Event
Canoe Clubs or other organisations are able to register as a group online and invite their members to join the group/team. At the end of the race, the times of the first six team members will be totalled and the winning time will win the Tingira Boat Club Team Trophy. (Single crafts only)
Competitors will still be eligible for the individual prizes, i.e. First, second, third and categories.

Secret Time $200.00! A secret time will be sealed in an envelope prior to the event. The paddler closest to that time will receive $200 prize money.

Relay and X6 outriggers (OC6)
Relay
A team of five paddlers will take a leg each to paddle around Macleay Island. They all use the same canoe and change at each check point (four) around the Island.
They will compete for the Tingira Boat Club Relay Trophy plus individual medals.

Oc1s and OC2s on the Saturday and OC6 on the Sunday. Another great team event around the Island. Paddle to win the Tingira Boat Club OC6 Trophy plus individual medals. (First OC6 open, female or mixed across the line)

Mixed - 3 men and 3 women paddlers
Women - 6 women paddlers
Open - Any other combination of Men and Women paddlers.
Prize money of $600 will be offered to the first mixed team (3 male and 3 female) across the line.

Transport Preferred option
It is only a 4km paddle from Victoria Point to the Tingira Boat Club, so competitors are encouraged to paddle across on the Saturday or Sunday morning. A boat will be in place at the Victoria Point Boat Ramp at 7.30am Saturday and 8.00am Sunday to guide competitors across.
Please keep clear of shallow water.
When approaching or leaving the Tingira Boat Club beach, please keep between the markers to ensure a solid footing.
For competitors who wish to paddle across and who need a change of gear after the race or are staying the night, the boat from Victoria Point will bring your gear across for you.

Family and support team
Translink passenger ferries leave from Banana Street, Redland Bay. (Weinam Creek)
You can drop passengers off at the passenger ferry before proceeding to Victoria Point.
Bus transfer between Macleay Island ferry terminal and Tingira Boat Club is available on Saturday and Sunday.

Event Gala Dinner To launch the 12th Macleay Island Classic, a Dinner will be held at the Tingira Boat Club from 6.00 pm on Saturday October 31, 2020. Limit of 50 people
This will be a two course meal. Cost $20.00

Accommodation Bring the family and friends and enjoy the weekend on the Island.
Contact Airbnb for bookings or there are several Bed & Breakfast establishments available online.
For those prepared to rough it, the Tingira Boat Club has offered the use of their deck and marquees. Bring your own bedding. Toilets and outside cold shower available.
Breakfast may be purchased on Saturday and Sunday morning at a reasonable price as will food and drink throughout the day. Bar opens at 12.00 noon on both days.
Terms and Conditions
Entry conditions
- ÄAll paddlers must be experienced and competent at the craft.Officials reserve the right to remove paddlers deemed as not capable of paddling the craft in the waters of this event.
- ÄAll competitors must be able to swim 40 meters
- ÄCraft must have fixed or inbuilt buoyancy
- ÄAll paddlers must wear a lifejacket.
- ÄAll paddlers must be attached to the craft via an approved leg rope or leash.
- ÄAll paddlers must carry at least 1L drinking water
- ÄAll paddlers must wear a minimum short sleeve rash shirt for sun protection.
- ÄIt is recommended paddlers carry a whistle
- ÄIt is recommended that paddlers carry a mobile phone
Conditions and information
Please note the following information:
- ÄThe water conditions can vary around of the island and the organisers reserve the right to alter the course to ensure the safety of participants
- ÄCanoeists will be led and followed by a safety boat.
- ÄTwo Check Boats will be positioned around the course.All competitors must pass between the Check Boat and marker buoy (Failure to do so will cause disqualification) and they must call out their number as they pass.
- ÄCompetitors are required to call their number at the finish.
- ÄPower craft are to be expected in these waters
- ÄAll competitors must give way to ferries at the southern end of the Island and must obey the red and green flags displayed by observation boats at the two ferry crossing points.Failure to do so will cause disqualification
- ÄCompetitors needing assistance must be assisted by the nearest paddlers.A time redress can be applied for immediately after the finish
- ÄICF Draft Ocean Racing rules will apply where reasonable and relevant
- ÄAll competitors must arrive early enough for re-registration on the day.
- ÄAll competitors must be present for the briefing.
- ÄFurther information will be posted on tingiraboatclub.com and posted on the day at the registration area which competitors are required to read. It is the competitor’s responsibility to know the rules of the race. A briefing session will be held prior to the start of the race.

OC6s
All competitors in oc6's should either wear or have on board 6 lifejackets, 2 baling buckets and a spare paddle. 1 x mobile phone in a waterproof pouch.
A tow rope is not necessary as safety craft will have one. Canoe covers optional, not mandatory.
All competitors must be able to tread water for 10 minutes and be proficient in Huli (flip) training.
