INDEMNITY

 

MOTORCYCLE RACING IS DANGEROUS AND CAN RESULT IN INJURY TO COMPETITORS AND DAMAGE TO MACHINERY.

 

These supplementary regulations are important documents, which affect your legal rights and obligations. Read these documents carefully and do not agree to terms and conditions of entry for this competition unless you are completely satisfied that you understand the contents and agree to be bound by them.

 

 

1. ANNOUNCEMENT & JURISDICTION

 

The AJS Motorcycle Club (AJS), hereafter called the Promoter will conduct the meetings in conjunction with the Manual of Motorsport General Competition Rules of Motorcycling Australia, these Supplementary Regulations and additions or amendments approved by Motorcycling WA

The Event is open to all holders of a Senior National Competitive Licence or by applying for a One Day Competition Licence, which can be purchased through Ridernet or by contacting the race secretary before the event.

 

2. OFFICIALS

 

Officials are appointed with the approval of Motorcycling WA.  Control will be under the Clerk of Course with the supervision of the Steward/s of the meeting who reserve the right to alter, postpone or cancel all or part of the event program if required, without notice.

The King of the Sand Shootout will be run before the start of the second round of racing and this event will comprise of the  top 15 from MX1 and the top 15 from MX2 class and 10 wildcard entries which can be selected either the remaining MX1 and MX2 Clubman Open, Clubman Lites or Veterans at the promoters discretion. 40 Riders complete one lap sprint, top 20 advance to next round, 20 riders reduced to 10, to 5 riders based on results of each subsequent lap sprint until 3 riders are remaining with 1st place of the final sprint between these 3 riders taking the win for the Shootout.

 

The King of the Sand Feature race will be run at the end of the third round of racing and this event will comprise of the top 15 from the MX1 and the top 15 from the MX2 class and 10 wildcard entries which can be selected either the remaining MX1 and MX2 Clubman Open, Clubman Lites or Veterans at the promoters discretion.

MINIMUM/MAXIMUM RIDERS

 

The maximum number of entries that will be accepted per class is forty (40), except the ATV heat where it will be twenty (20). 

The minimum number of entries to constitute a class is 8 riders. 5 for ATV. Classes may be altered to suit entries received.

 

Riders must have had their 16th birthday to be eligible to enter and compete in this event.

 

4. ENTRY FEES

 

Entries are via Register Now and will close midnight 11th October 2020, late entries may be taken up to the 14th October 2020 riders may not appear in the official program and a late fee of $50.00 will apply. In the case of postponement or abandonment of the meeting, all or any part of the entry fee may be retained by the AJS with the approval of the Executive Committee.

 

Only entries received through Register Now and accompanied by the correct fee will be accepted. Refunds will be given to riders not able to attend the meeting due to injury/Medical reasons only. Notice of 48 hours will need to be given in writing and emailed to the Race Secretary with a medical certificate. $5.00 Admin fee will be charged.

 

PLEASE NOTE: MWA License Required for this event, if you do not hold a valid MWA Licence you will need to purchase a One Event Competition Licence from Motorcycling WA prior to the event and bring with you to sign on. Each entry will get the rider in for free ,all other people ie mechanic etc will pay $10.00 at the gate on entry  No Exceptions. All Kids under 16 free entry.

A rider is allowed to change bikes right up to the start of the race as long as both bikes are eligible for the class, designated to the one rider, identical numbers and have passed machine examination. Notification is required to the Clerk of Course in the above case, but if a rider wishes to use another competitors bike in place of his own then formal notification to the Clerk of Course at least 10 min prior to the race in which the substitution is to be made.

 

Sponsors names will be accepted, sponsors will be shown next to a rider’s name in a programme at the promoter’s discretion. Due to space restrictions some sponsors may not be listed.

 

5. TRANSPONDERS

 

Transponders will be compulsory at this meeting, Transponders can be purchased through My Laps, or hired for $15. A $5 admin fee will apply for those supplying their own transponder. It is compulsory to have purchased and fitted a transponder bracket prior to this meeting. Transponder brackets are available for purchase for $15 from the Transponder Operator at the meeting. You must supply your own cable ties.

 

Conditions:

  • When a transponder is transferred to the competitor, it is the competitor’s responsibility for any repairs or replacement cost of the transmitter if damaged or lost.
  • It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure the transponder is mounted correctly, and securely to prevent damage from fouling other components on the machine.
  • It is the competitor’s responsibility transponders are returned in good condition at the end of the event, or if due to machine failure or injury before the machine leaves the pit area.Competitors WILL be fined $50 for not returning transponders on the day.
  • Transponders must be returned to the designated person as advised at riders briefing.
  • If you do not return your transponders within 30 minutes from the conclusion of racing you will have 7 days to return your transponder to the MWA Office. If you do not you return it within 7 days you will receive a $300.00 replacement invoice and your license will be instantly suspended until you return the transponder or you pay the invoice.
  • Transponders must be fitted for all practice sessions.
  • NOTE: The onus is on the guardian/rider to ensure transponders are on machines prior to each event.

6. MEDICAL SERVICES

 

A First Aid provider will be in attendance.  It is a condition of entry that First Aid MUST be accepted whenever deemed necessary by the attending first aid officers.  The Clerk of Course has the right to refuse further participation if first aid treatment is refused.

7. MACHINE EXAMINATION

 

Machine Examining 3.30pm to 5.00pm Saturday Afternoon

 

Machine Examining: 6:00am to 7.15am sharp with riders brief at 7.30am. Sunday Morning

 

All riders under 18 must be signed on by a parent/Guardian before proceeding to scrutineering.

 

As per the GCR 10.13.2 Helmet Cameras and 10.13.2.1 Cameras may be fitted to the motorcycle provided they are securely mounted. Helmet cameras are not permitted are not allowed unless the camera is integrated into the helmet, by design of the manufacturer. Camera mounts on helmets are not allowed.

Tear-off’s are banned for all Off Road related disciplines as per Appendix A GCR 7.2.0.1, however as per Appendix A GCR 7.2.0.2 Exemptions are available for Junior, Senior and Classic Motocross events by application of the Track Licensee to the Relevant Controlling Body. a) Automatic exemptions will apply for Supercross events held at temporary tracks and venues. If the hosting club has obtained an exemption all riders will be notified prior to the event in the final instructions.

ALL MACHINES MUST CONFORM TO THE GENERAL COMPETITON RULES.  Machines may be measured; bore and stroke, and fuel samples taken at random.  The steward will be responsible for the decision to measure machines on the day.  Any machine may be measured at the request of the steward or under protest.  It is a condition of entry that all cost will be borne by the entrant for machines measured under the instruction of the Steward.

Noise testing will be conducted at all championship rounds as per GCR 10.22.0.1 for Solos and GCR 13.12.0.1 for ATV.

8. RACE CONDITIONS

 

PRACTICE

 

Practice will commence no later than 7:45am on the day for all classes. Minimum Three (3) laps, time permitting.

 

START METHOD

 

Self-penalising drop gates. Clutch start. 15 second board displayed to all riders for full 15 seconds.

 

  • At the end of 15 sec a 5 sec board will be displayed.
  • The gate will drop between 5 and 10 seconds after the 5-sec board is shown.

 

Riders to be in start gates for the next race as soon as practical.

 

Pit Board Area/ Mechanic Area

 

Two people per rider only and must be over 16 and sign on prior to first race.

 

GATE POSITIONS

 

Gate positions will be drawn by ballot by the rider on the day for the 1st race only eg peg # 1 equals first pick. Gate position will then be determined for the following races by your previous race placement. DNF riders will have last gate pick in order of DNF. Only authorised officials will be permitted on the starting line and only 1 assistant over 16 years of age per rider is permitted on the start line.

 

FINISHING

 

A one-lap board will be displayed to the riders indicating when one lap remains. The chequered flag will be displayed to signal the race is finished.

 

A competitor finishes and qualifies for inclusion in the results if the competitor;

a) Completes not less than 50% of the race distance; and

b) Is shown the chequered flag on crossing the finish line.

 

9. COMPLAINTS AND PROTESTS

 

‘On track’ complaints and protests may be initiated by the competitor only. Should a competitor have a complaint regarding an incident ‘on track’, then this needs to be conveyed by the COMPETITOR ONLY.   The competitor must return immediately to the pits, then present their complaint to the Clerk of Course. Should the complaint not be resolved to the satisfaction of the competitor, the competitor may then make a formal protest to the Steward by submitting a protest form to the Clerk of Course. This process applies to incidents ‘on track’.  All other ‘off track’ incidents refer directly to the Clerk of Course. Refer GCR’s.

11. AWARDS

 

Trophies and prizemoney will be awarded for MX1 and MX2 classes only on entries received as per the schedule set out below based on minimum 20 riders per class for MX1 and MX2 and 10 riders per class for Clubman Open, Clubman Lites, Vets. The Promoter has the right to decrease the prizemoney pro rata at their discretion based on entries.

 

Vouchers for Clubman Open, Clubman Lites, Vets, to the value of finishing as per the schedule set out below, supplied by the sponsor of that class.

12. FLAG MARSHAL DUTIES

 

Persons who are required to do flag duties must sign on at machine examination. If you do not sign on, your rider will be excluded from practice and competition unless just cause can be proven to the Clerk of Course. There will be one flag shifts. ALL Flag Marshals must attend the Flag Marshals Briefing at the canteen area at 7:30am and will need to be in position at their allocated flag points immediately following the Riders Briefing. ALL FLAG MARSHALS MUST REMAIN AT THEIR FLAG POINT UNTIL THE FINAL RACE HAS BEEN COMPLETED

All Flag Marshals must meet at the designated meeting place to be accounted for before proceeding to their

Marshalling positions.  In the case where a marshalling duty is being shared by more than one person.  All marshals must sign on and ensure that they are wearing a reflective safety vest before proceeding onto the track.

Flag marshals will be provided lunch and water throughout the day.3. GENERAL RULES

 

  • No alcoholic beverages allowed in pits or racing circuit.
    • Open pits will run during this event, machines may be ridden from the pitting areas at slow walking pace, via the marked area. Engine may be running to assist.
    • Dogs will not be permitted (except guide dogs).
  • Enclosed footwear must be worn in the pits and on the circuit at all times.
  • No pit bikes
  • This is a licenced event – NO BYO alcohol.
  • Bar and Canteen available

15. RIGHT TO USE IMAGE

 

It is a condition of entry that consent is given by the entrant/rider and /or parent/guardian for all photographs and electronic images (including moving images) that may be taken during the event by or on the behalf of the Promoter, or with permission of the Promoter.  All such images are the property of the Promoter and will only be used in accordance with the Motorcycling Australia Member Protection Policy and for the purposes of promotional or other purposes without further consent being required.

 

16.NO HASSLE POLICY

Any rider or entrant or person associated with the rider or entrant shall conduct themselves in an orderly manner.  A rider shall be responsible for his own conduct and for that of any person with whom he is associated.  Anyone who abuses or threatens verbally or physically any official or any other person present at the event shall be deemed to be in Breach of this rule.
The No Hassle Policy applies to the Race Secretary and other volunteers of the Promoter and host clubs prior and subsequent to the event.  A No Tolerance approach will be applied for any breach in this regard, with Exclusion as the penalty.  Penalties will be imposed by the steward for a breach of this rule on the day i.e. *Reprimand or warning * Fine * Exclusion from the meeting
All breaches will be reported to Motorcycling WA for possible further action.

 

17.TRACK INSPECTION

All competitors will be given the opportunity to walk and inspect the track prior to any on track participation. This inspection must be done on foot and competitors are reminded that service vehicles may be in operation on the circuit at this time.

 17.1     Track Dissatisfaction Competitors who are not satisfied with any aspects of the track can present these             concerns to the Clerk of Course if those concerns cannot be resolved, the competitor will be invited to             withdraw from the meeting

18. ANTI-DOPING POLICY

18.1      All competitors and officials are advised that drug testing may take place in accordance with MA’s Anti-            Doping Policy, as carried out by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority.  Refer to MA website for             details.

 18.2     If any doubts exist over banned substances it is recommended competitors contact the Drugs in Sport             Hotline, ph: 1800 020 506.  When drug testing takes place, the payment of prizemoney may be delayed at             Motorcycling WA’s discretion until the results of the tests are known.  

19. DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING

All competitors and officials are advised that random drug and alcohol testing may take place during the competition. Refer to MA website for details on the Safety Policy – Drug and Alcohol testing

20. ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS AND SOCIAL MEDIA

All competitors, officials and parents are reminded of MA’s Electronic Communications and Social Media Policy, found at www.ma.org.au, which sets out a framework for acceptable online behaviour where communications involve fellow MA members, volunteers, officials, coaches, sponsors, partners, staff and any other connected persons.

21. INSURANCE

            21.1 National Personal Accident Scheme provides basic cover for death and permanent disability. Full             insurance details can be found on the Motorcycling Australia website www.ma.org.auance on (03) 9211 3371 and 03 9or 

            21.2 Ambulance Insurance is compulsory for licensees.

 

It is strongly recommended that competitors give consideration to taking out weekly benefits insurance

IMPORTANT - THIS IS A CONTRACT.  YOU MUST READ AND SIGN THIS CONTRACT BEFORE YOU PARTICIPATE.

Waiver Agreement

Recitals

  1. The Provider organises, and permits participants to participate in, the Recreational Activity in consideration for the Participant: If a rider, paying the Application Fee; and

    otherwise agreeing to be bound by the Provider’s rules and directives governing the conduct of the Recreational Activity.

  2. This document is the contract between the Provider and the Participant with respect to the Participant’s participation in the Recreational Activity.
  3. The purposes of this contract include to:
    1. exclude the liability of the Provider to the extent permissible by law to pay damages or any other form of compensation whether arising in tort contract or statute or at law or in equity for any personal injury or death of the Participant as a result of the participant’s participation in the Recreational Activity; and
    2. provide a warning of the risks of engaging in the Recreational Activity (as defined below).
  4. Participating in the Recreational Activity is dangerous. The risks include but are not limited to death, serious injury or illness due to:
  1. If a volunteer official volunteering to officiate at the Recreational Activity;
  2. If a member of the media, accepting the Provider’s terms of media accreditation; and
  • falling from your bike;
  • difficult terrain and obstacles;
  • hazardous and changeable track conditions;
  • rider error and/or lack of skill or care and/or dangerous or reckless behaviour on your part or the part of other participants;
  • undisclosed medical conditions;
  • decisions made or not made by organisers, officials, landowners/track operators and any agents or representatives of those in charge of meetings;
  • heat, cold, wet or other adverse weather conditions;
  • contact with vehicles, other participants or members of the public who may or may not be acting safely;
  • lack of access to medical, evacuation or search services; or
  • design of the track.

Operative parts

  1. In consideration for me (the Participant) paying or providing the consideration under clause A above to participate in the Recreational Activity, the Provider will permit me to participate in the Recreational Activity.
  2. I acknowledge that the Recreational Activity involves the risk of serious injury, physical harm or death. I warrant that I am aware that the Recreational Activity involves the risk of serious injury, physical harm or death.
  3. I also acknowledge that in signing this contract I have done so voluntarily and that no pressure or unfair tactics have been used to persuade me to sign this contract and that I have done so voluntarily in the knowledge that it is open to me not to sign the contract and for the Provider to refuse to permit me to participate in the Recreational Activity. I also warrant that I have been given sufficient opportunity to read this contract before signing it and that I have read it.
  4. I agree that the Provider and any directors or officers of the Provider and any person associated with organising the Recreational Activity shall not be liable to me or any other person for damages, compensation or loss, whether in tort, contract, under statute or at law or in equity or otherwise for any personal injury or death caused by, or in connection with, or arising out of, my participation in the Recreational Activity.

Definitions

Application Fee means the fee payable by the Participant (as a rider) to participate in the Recreational Activity.

Participant means the person signing this form and whose name appears next to Participant below.

Provider means those persons and entities listed in Annexure 1.

Recreational Activity means the event specified in Annexure 2.

 

Participant acknowledgements, consents and authorisations

  1. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to only participate in the Recreational Activity if I am fit and able to do so.
  2. I acknowledge that I am responsible for all medical, hospital and ambulance expenses arising out of my participation in the Recreational Activity save for any benefits provided by MA’s Personal Accident Policy.
  3. I authorise and consent to the Provider arranging any medical, hospital or ambulance services on my behalf if necessary arising out of my participation in the Recreational Activity.
  4. I authorise and consent to the Provider collecting and using my personal information for the purpose of administering the Recreational Activity and in accordance with the MA Privacy Policy.
  5. I authorise and consent to the Provider collecting my private health information from me and from any person or entity providing me with medical, hospital or ambulance services arising out of my participation in the Recreational Activities, and to the use of such information to reduce the risks to persons participating in recreational activities, in accordance with the MA Privacy Policy.
  6. I acknowledge that I have agreed to, and am bound by, the Provider’s rules and directives governing the conduct of the Recreational Activity, including the MA anti-doping policy and understand that I may be subject to drug testing.
  7. I authorise and consent to photographs and electronic images (images) being taken of me in the course of the Recreational Activity.I have no proprietary interest in the images.I authorise and consent to the Provider using such images, my name and information about my participation in the Recreational Activity to promote the Provider or any recreational activities organised by the Provider.
