Focus on Girls
A series of Orienteering instruction for girls with an appetite for adventure!
These sessions help girls to move beyond the school grounds, or Easy navigation and into forest running – wild running.
Target Age: 9 – 14 years (approx)
4pm – 5.15pm Thursday afternoons starting 21 November for 4 weeks
21 November and 28 November - meet in the park behind the War Memorial
5 December and 12 December – meet on Mt Ainslie Drive at the base of Mt Ainslie
Bring: Sunscreen and hat, drink bottle, parent (parent must stay), and friend with a hunger for adventure
We will provide afternoon tea, maps.
(Fruit and muffins. As our efforts will be predominantly on the instructional side of the session, if you have special dietary requirements please bring you own).
Fee: $10 (plus booking fee). This covers all 4 weeks.
This instruction will prepare girls for bush orienteering.
If you have done SCORE, and School Orienteering - we will teach you bush orienteering, if you are already doing orienteering at Easy level at regular Orienteering ACT events, we’ll step you up to Moderate (off track) navigation!
We will learn how to:
read and run at the same time,
interpret the landscape, and
become confident at relocation – that is, fix things when we feel like we are lost!
(Sorry no refunds if you change your mind. No reductions if you come to fewer than 4 sessions. We are all volunteers and our time is given for the love of it).
