The Kids Urban is the perfect introduction to Downhill riding. The Albany Mountain Bike Club will be holding a Kids Urban Downhill event, for children aged 5 to 12. This event will differ from previous years, being focused on the ‘Urban’ in Urban Downhill, and will be run on hard surfaces. 2019 will bring some new challenges, designed for the more confident young rider.
This year the event will be truly part of the Urban, with the race held on Stirling Terrace, next to the finishing area for the Optus Urban Downhill! As there are no soft landings, riders require suitable clothing for the style of riding – See Safety Notes.
Thanks to Impulse Cycles this year will be FREE OF CHARGE.
Briefing will be at 07:45am, Sunday the 29th
Racing will start at 08:00am
The event is open to kids aged between 5 -12yrs.
No registration on the day
Bikes will be scrutineered for safety purposes.
SAFETY NOTE:
This year the course is on bitumen, not grass.
To mitigate risks, riders must:
1) wear either long pants and long sleeves and/or elbow and knee pads
2) wear a well-fitting Australian standard helmet
3) have a roadworthy bike bar ends and functional brakes.
Age groups will be Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, and Under 13
Entry is free, although we do encourage you to support the event and the Albany Mountain Bike Club by purchasing some event merchandise on the day!
