Thanks for being a part of the 2019 SNOWY RIVER EXTREME RACE!!

The Snowy River Extreme race is to be held on Sunday, the 6th of October on the section of the Snowy River between Munyang Power Station and Island Bend.

Multiple classes of event will be held, catering for expert and intermediate paddlers, as well pack rafters/inflatable kayakers. The expert kayak race will be contested on a 2km Class III-IV stretch of the river, starting just below the “Can Opener” rapid and ending at the “Rafter’s Track”. The intermediate race will be held following the expert race on the 1.7km class III stretch of the river, starting at the “Rafter’s Track” and ending at the flying fox at the gauging station. The C-boater, inflatable kayak and pack raft race will be also be held on the intermediate course. The C-boat division is new this year - both racers must be in open or closed hard-shell canoes, kneeling with a single-bladed paddle - see rules (link below) for full restrictions.

All events will be run as “pairs” time-trial races, which require competitors to race in groups of two. This year we will host a Women's division (open to teams consisting of only female racers) and Juniors' division (both race partners less than 18 years old). These divisions will run in each class, provided a minimum of 3 teams enter the category.

Non-AC members will be required to pay for a day entry, and will be required to sign the PaddleNSW single event membership form on the day of the race. A copy of the form can be found here.

All participants will be required to sign a waiver indemnifying PaddleNSW--Snowy River Extreme Race, its staff and volunteers, the Minister for the Environment, the National Parks and Wildlife Service, Snowy Hydro Limited, or the officers, staff and contractors of any of those above. In addition, a parent or guardian must sign for participants under 18 years of age.

Check the official rules at our facebook page!

If the race is unable to be held due to inadequate water levels, we will make every effort to reimburse participants all fees which are not already claimed by National Parks or mandatory operating expenses.

If you have any trouble with the registration process email us at snowyriverextremerace@gmail.com
