TOUR OF YORK 2019

cycling adventure for the touring cyclists!

SUNDAY 14th JULY 2019

Introduction

The 2019 Tour of York returns for the 8th year running with a brand new course starting at Clackline with a stopover in York before proceeding to Greenhill Tavern as the turn point.  A challenging Long Course of 133 km route which is a much requested feature for touring / cyclosport if type cyclists looking for new challenges. In short Clackline-York-Greenhills-Clackline.

If the route of 133 km provides too long then you have the option of doing the Short Course, which is from Clackline-York-Clackline, with a stopover once again at York and this is a less challenging 88 km in distance.

The challenge for 2019 gets better here because you are invited to register yourself BUT team up with up to three others as you will be permitted to have an accompanying Team Vehicle with you to support you for the distance regardless of whether you do the short course or long course.

Team or Individual Options

Think of your Team Vehicle as your own support vehicle just like the professionals do where all of your food / hydration / spares / wheels / change of clothes can be contained.  Team may have Team Drivers who are PART of the team, which means you do rotations driving the vehicle along the way or assign ONE person who is not part of the Team to be the Team Driver.  If the Team Driver is NOT a rider then they do not need to register.

A Team can therefore comprise of between two to four people RIDING with a Team Driver who is not riding or between two to four people riding with riders rotating as Team Drivers. Your social club / group or chapter are invited to have as many Teams as they wish as this will be a fun open country ride event.

Individual riders cannot have any Team Vehicles supporting them if they choose the individual option though they will also be supported by the Event Support Vehicles who are on route in the event of any emergencies.

For 2019 we are have also OzHarvest as our nominated charity where you can help them with their noble cause of helping BOTH the Homeless and the Environment not to mention reduce was wanton wastage of food. Donations in the denominations of $20, $40, $60 or $100 are available at your Option point of your sign up within.  Please note that we can transfer the nominated amount less the on-line fees to OzHarvest and this will be done fortnightly leading up to the cumulation of the event so the funds raised will assist them directly.
