Organised each year by the Whakatane Athletic and Harrier Club, this event is a fundraiser for the club, to support athletes of all ages and abilities in both Athletics and Harriers.  The club's and this event's goal is to get more people active!

With support from local businesses, this event has been going for 29 years.

In the last few years it has partnered with Whakatane Kiwi Trust, an organisation that is dedicated to the re-establishment of kiwi in the Whakatane area, and part of that area is some of the trails that the race goes through.  A portion of your entry fee goes towards helping the Whakatane Kiwi Trust, and you may choose to donate more through the registration process.

In the interests of reducing rubbish, this year we will be going cup free.  There will be several water refill stations throughout the course, please bring your own cup or water container.  Collapsible cups will be available at registration for a small cost.

Finishers all receive a punnet of delicious Julians Berry Farm and Cafe strawberries. All 18km participants will receive a medal.
