Australia’s premiere extreme kayaking race is on again for 2019!

Hosted by the Tasmanian Canoe Club, the 2019 Lea Extreme Race will be held on Saturday the 28th of September.

All monies raised are used by the TCC to help further the sport of whitewater kayaking in Tasmania.

Nestled in the foothills of Cradle Mountain, the Lea River provides natural flows down grade 3/4 rapids leading into Lake Gairdiner.

Participants will race in teams of 2, with the team with the fastest time the winner.  In 2019 there will be three categories.  Open category (open to all entrants), Female category (both team members must be female) and Centurion category (combined team age over 100).

Due to the dangerous nature of whitewater kayaking, participants must have paddled the river before and be competent in class 4 whitewater.

Registration will open at 9am, with race briefing starting at 1030am.

Presentations, dinner and after party will take place at the Forth Canoe Club , where there is plenty of room to camp and enjoy the night socialising, listening to live music and eating hot food around the campfires.

Ticket price includes race entry, dinner and live music at the afterparty, plus entry in the prize draw and camping.  All entrants must either be a paid up member of a Paddle Australia affiliated club or pay for insurance with their entry.

Early bird entrants will get a ticket in the early bird prize draw, with the prize a brand new Werner paddle, supplied by Paddlesports Australia.

Non racers are very welcome to come to the presentation and dinner but must pay separately for dinner and camping.
