(TERM 2 – YEARS 5-12)
INFORMATION & REGISTRATION
Santa Sabina College will be offering students from Years 5-12 the opportunity to participate in the Eastern Districts Women’s Hockey Competition. Please read the information below carefully, as it will, in conjunction with the information contained in the College Sports Booklet, form the basis for your involvement in Hockey at Santa Sabina College in Term 2, 2019.
There is an absolute expectation that all players fulfil their contractual obligations during the season and that they do so with the active support of their parents. Areas of particular concern to the College Sports Department are the punctual attendance of players at training and games and appropriate parental notification of absences from these commitments.
COMPETITION INFORMATION:
Competition: Eastern Districts Women's Hockey Competition (SEHA)
Competition Dates (Saturday): May 4, 11, 18, 25, and June 1, 15, 22
Game Times: 8:00am to 12:00pm
Venues: Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre; Double Bay Grass Field; Moorebank Turf and Grass Fields; Bankstown Turf and Grass Fields; Cumberland Turf Field
TEAM TRIALS:
All registered Hockey players for Term 2, 2019 will be required to attend two trial sessions (if necessary) at Cintra Park Hockey Complex, Concord, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm on Thursday 4 April 2019 and Thursday 11 April 2019. Team selections and training days and times will be confirmed (in conjunction with the coaches) at these sessions.
UNIFORM:
The uniform items required for this sport are as follows:
- Santa Sabina College Skort (red)
- Santa Sabina College Singlet (black) (no number required on the back)
- Santa Sabina College Long Sport Socks (black)
- Sport Shoes (suitable for Grass or Synthetic Turf)
EQUIPMENT:
All players will need to have their own hockey stick, mouth guard, and shin guards. The College will not provide equipment to students (with the exception of training and match balls, and goal keeper gear).
TRAINING:
All players will have one training session each week, the duration of which will be approximately 1-1.5 hours. Some teams will train on Thursday afternoons at Cintra Park Hockey Complex, Concord, with training commencing at 4:00pm and concluding at 5:30pm. Remaining teams will train at the College either before (7:00am-8:15am) or after school (3:30pm-5:00pm). The time and length of training may vary, depending on team make-up and the age of participating students. Training days and times for each team will be allocated by the end of Term 1, 2019. On the rare occasion that a student is unable to attend training their parent/guardian should email a.sutton@ssc.nsw.edu.au, as early as possible.
GAMES:
Players are expected to attend all games, and must be at the venue at least 30 minutes prior to the game so there is adequate time for score sheets to be completed and for players to sign on and warm-up. If a player is for some reason unable to play due to illness or injury, it is important that they come to support their team where possible. On the rare occasion that a player is unable to attend a game, their parent/guardian should contact Miss Sutton at a.sutton@ssc.nsw.edu.au as early as possible.
ADVERSE WEATHER:
Details regarding this will be forwarded out to parents at the beginning of the term.
REGISTRATION FEES:
A NON-REFUNDABLE fee of no more than $180.00, to be paid at the time of registration. Fees include registration, umpiring expenses, a team kit, and coaching fees for the term of competition.
SPECIAL REGISTRATION NOTE: When registering please ensure that the participant email address, required at the start of the registration process, is the email address to which you wish the confirmation email to be sent.
