This community event will allow you to participate in a 12, 35, or 70 kilometre ride through the beautiful landscape that surrounds Binnaway. All participants must attend the 8:00am ride briefing, as transport will be provided to riders in the 12 and 35 kilometre rides that must commence at 8:15 so that riders are ready to leave their starting point at the designated times.





General Information

Race Categories

3 categories to choose from: 12km, 35km or 70km

Location:

Ride start and finish is the Binnaway Sports Ground. Transport will be provided to the start point for those riding the 12km or 35km ride. Ride officials and registration will be at Binnaway Sports Ground.

Race Brief

8:00am at the Binnaway Sports Ground

Start Time

8:30am. Riders pedalling the 80km ride will leave the grounds and the transfer of riders to the start point of the 40km and 20km ride will commence.

Finish Time

The event will be concluded by 2:00pm

Lunch

Binnaway Central School P&C will be cooking a BBQ lunch with a bottle of water. All registered riders will be provided with lunch at the completion of the event. Lunch will commence at 12:30 and riders need to provide the lunch tag that they receive at registration to the BBQ to receive their meal. There is no provision for meals for additional family members who may be in attendance on the day

Coffee

Will be available for purchase at the Binnaway Sports Ground.

Parking

There is plenty of parking available at the Binnaway Sports Ground.

Livestock and Wildlife

You may cross livestock and wildlife roaming in some areas. Please treat them with respect and take care.

Private Property

Please leave any gates as you find them. No littering and stay on the designated track.

Communications

We will have a communications network setup between the lead vehicles, some riders on course, officials at drink stations and officials at Binnaway Sports Ground.

Course

A lead vehicle will provide directions. Please obey signs and information provided by course volunteers. In some areas you may need to dismount and walk your bike. Please obey these instructions for your own safety.

Self Supporting Ride

This is a self supporting ride. We suggest that you load up with what you may need in relation to food and water. There will be limited supplies of these available to assist you at the checkpoints. Please do not rely on these as your only source of food and water. You should be able to carry the items that you require with you. We also recommend slime and thorn proof tyres and a toolkit for mechanical repairs along the way. There is no bikeshop in town, so bring spare everything.

Drink Stations

We will have a number of drink station located around the course.

Equipment needed

Each Rider should have the following

  • Mechanically sound mountain bike in working order
  • Australian Standards Approved cycling helmet, fastened and worn throughout the event
  • Toolkit with (minimum) pump, puncture repair kit and inner tube
  • First Aid kit (optional, but recommended)
  • Water – suggest 2 litres
  • Food, energy bars, bananas etc
  • Clearly displayed number that will be supplied by the organisers at registration on the morning

Rules of the Event

  1. Australian Road Rules apply at all times
  2. Riders should give way to all traffic that they encounter
  3. Riders wishing to pass, should call passing on your right (or left) as the need arises
  4. If you need to return along a section of the course, please give way to oncoming riders at all times
  5. Riders pushing bikes must give way to those riding
  6. Riders should be aware that Mountain Bike Riding is a potentially hazardess activity and that injury or death may occur despite the best efforts of the event organisers. Riders take part in this event at their own risk.
  7. In the event of an accident or injury, riders should stop to assist and inform officials as soon as possible.
  8. It is strongly recommended that participants have Ambulance Cover
  9. It is strongly recommended that participants are members of Bicycle network or similar
  10. Please do not leave rubbish on the course
  11. Caution should be taken when riding on the main roads, as traffic will also be using the roads
  12. Profane or abusive language to other riders or officials will not be tolerated and you will be disqualified from the event
  13. Riders under the age of 18 must have a disclaimer dorm signed by a parent or guardian prior to the commencement of the ride.
