YORK SPORTS ADVENTURE
An adventure weekend for Runners, Walkers, Cyclists and Duathletes!
27TH AND 28TH OCTOBER 2018
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in the York Sports Adventure. This is the second year of operations with this event, run by the same event organisers who bought the Mt Brown Run-Cycle-Walk event to you in 2017. It follows on the heels of the successful York Festival which we support, and this Adventure Weekend is aimed at runners, walkers, cyclists and duathletes with a Sports Medicine Running Camp held on the same weekend.
Centre stage of our activities will be iconic Mt Brown, which not only affords the picturesque views but also the challenges required and demanded by participants of the dual sports.
All sectors of this event will be held on paved roads, and to add to the element of adventure, they will also be timed so you can then compare your results from 2018 and beyond!
While we encourage participants to involve their family in the events, there are some age restrictions due to the nature of the courses offered.
Children under the age of 10 years will ONLY be permitted to join the Community Walk and Polar Perth Walk-Run Events (4.5km), and the Secret Urban Runs (9.0km and 13.5km), and MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Participants must be over the age of 18 years to participate in the Run-Cycle-Run event, and the Sunday Cycle Touring events.
The Saturday Sports Medicine Run camp is open to anyone of any age.
We are also encouraging participants to support the local food and lodging facilities of the Shire of York community, by staying overnight and partaking in both days activities that we are providing for the York Sports Adventure.
Event Choices
Choose from one, two or all three events!
Event #1: Run-Cycle-Walk events, Saturday 27th October from 6am

The Mt Brown Walk-Run-Cycle event caters for all levels noting that those not accustomed to running gradients should consider the walk. The Mt Brown elevation is legendary and established duathletes have now come to respect the Run-Cycle-Run route and the challenges it poses. Are you one of those established duathletes keen to be rewarded by the views at the summit of Mt Brown?
Runners doing the 9km run will also appreciate the terrain and the distance which will be akin to between 10km to 12km of distance on the flats. By no means a flat terrain, the discerning runner will choose his or her strategy carefully for this event and utilise the climbs to push pass their opponents.
Social walkers and runners doing the 4.5km options will find the views amazing and make sure you take a long peek at the Rotary Lookout as the views are amazing!
