Thank-you you in advance for entering the fourth, ‘Maidenwell Running Festival’ this coming Easter.
Whilst not a remote location relatively speaking in Australian terms, in
general Maidenwell is reasonably isolated, and this has thrown up some
challenges for race management, which hopefully we have addressed.
BEFORE entering, please ensure you have read our webpage, and fully understand the following:
-If you plan to stay over night, the accommodation options (there are no
motels with in 30km), therefore camping is the best local option or if
you are a group of 6 or more adults, we can arrange for your group to
use the Community Hall, please email us for more details.
Camping
We camp in the Maidenwell Sports Centre, which is the start/finish complex.
If you are proposing to camp please email us your intentions and please note:
- You will need to be self-sufficient, with either a tent, caravan or camper van etc.
- There is no power for your caravan/camper van.
- There is a modern toilet block with hot showers ($2-00/shower), and power points to charge up your devices.
- It will cost $20/adult for the entire duration of your stay to camp - kids stay free. Please pay Bruce/Digger when you get there.
- Although this is a ‘free camping ground’ provided by the local council now with a RV dump point, the local community ensure the grass is cut prior to our arrival, and provide firewood our camp fires, so $20-00/adult for the weekend seems fair and reasonable.
- Please remember to bring enough $2 coins for everyone in your party to shower each time, and if you have long showers, you will need lots more coins.
Motels
There are no motels in Maidenwell itself but there a are a number in surrounding areas:
- Bunya Mountains: 25km drive
- Yarraman: 30km drive
- Nanango: 30km drive
- Kingaroy: 45km drive
- Crows Nest: 65km drive
- Toowoomba: 110km drive
If you wish to stay in a Motel, please make your own arrangements.
The Maidenwell Community Hall
If you are a group of 6 or more adults, we can arrange for the Maidenwell Community Hall to be made available to you and your friends (Somebody in your group must take responsibility for booking and maintaining the hall, and it costs $200/night). The hall is approximately 100m from the start line. To stay in the Community Hall, please note:
The hall has a kitchen and hot showers, you will need to provide all of your own bedding and personal gear. Most runners buy lunch at the Cafe and Dinner at the hotel, so you will only need to supply your breakfast.
-If you enter, and withdraw prior to the 15th March 2018, your entry free will be returned, less a $30-00 administration charge.
-There will be NO REFUNDS on or after the 15th March 2018, however, at
anytime up to 1 hour before race start, we will allow ‘full name
changes’ if you cannot run and you find a substitute, at NO CHARGE.
Please join us and enjoy a great Easter.
