Nominations
Nominations and payments close on Sunday 31st DECEMBER 2017 and will only be accepted on the Register Now website - https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=28329
Please Note – There will be NO Late Nominations accepted for this year's Championship.
A non-refundable and non-transferable nomination fee of $210 (plus $20 transponder hire if applicable) is payable with acceptance of entry conditions before nomination is accepted.
Entries will only be recognized once payment and acceptance of entry conditions has been received and accepted through Register Now.
The nomination fee also includes FREE entry to the Championship Calcutta for the competing driver.
Once your Nomination is accepted it will appear on the AWSR web site on the Nomination List for the Australian Championship. Please take note, you cannot nominate on AWSR website for this event.

Transponders
Mylaps Electronic Timing/Transponders will be used at this event.
If required, Transponders will be available for hire at an additional fee of $20 payable with nomination.
Drivers must provide their own transponder number when nominating.
One Way Communicators
One way communicators are a compulsory item for the event. All drivers must have one way radio communicators and it is the responsibility of the driver to ensure it is working effectively at all times during the event.
Prize Money and Tow Money
All monies will be paid directly into your nominated bank account as included in the championship nomination details provided on Register Now. Monies shall be paid into your account within 14 days after the results have been made official.
Conditions of Entry
- Only Australian Residents/Citizens who hold a current SCCA Inc. / AWSR Inc. competitor licence and have competed with an AWSR State Member Club in a minimum of 3 events since the previous AWSR National Championship may be eligible to compete in the 2018 Australian Wingless Sprint Championship.
- Both the car owner and the car driver (if different) must be a financial member of an AWSR Inc. affiliated Club and SCCA & AWSR fees must be fully paid.
- The 2018 Australian Wingless Sprint Championship will be conducted under the current rules and regulations of AWSR Inc. & SCCA Inc. and these Event Supplementary Regulations. Anybody or any vehicle that does not comply shall be excluded.
- It is the responsibility of both the owner and the driver to ensure the vehicle is legal and that penalties including suspension are applicable for breaches of engine rules.
- Any car which fails to pass pre or post-race scrutineering will forfeit all prize money, tow money and trophies for this event. Drivers are responsible for any incurred costs to AWSR such as Engine check costs and the return or replacement of trophies or sashes.
- All engines may be checked at any time before, during or after the meeting.
- All engines will be subject to the event regulations listed under ‘Engine checks’
Indemnity
I/WE AGREE AND UNDERSTAND THAT;
(a) I/We participate in the Event at my own risk and that I accept full responsibility for my actions or omissions in any way relating to the Event;
(b) I/We shall not make any claim against the Organiser, officials, any wingless sprint owners or any other driver in respect of any loss, damage or injury either to myself or any property in my care and control that arises out of or is in any way relating to my participation in the Event;
(c) I/We will indemnify the Organiser and officials in respect of any claim (including legal costs on a party/party basis) made by any person against the Organisers and officials in any way relating to my participation in the Event.
NOTE: The AWSR reserves the right to vary any of the Supplementary Regulations and reject any nomination should the need arise.
Championship Format
Scrutineering
Times will be allocated for teams. These will be notified a minimum of 1 week prior to the event. Scrutineering will be done at the track. All teams that turn up for scrutineering at their allotted time will receive 10 bonus points. If you don’t turn up for Scrutineering you will not be allowed to race. Cars will be checked on each day, with safety checks being a minimum.
Calcutta
The Calcutta dinner will be held on Thursday 1st February 2018 at the Wentworthville Leagues Club, 50 Smith St, Wentworthville NSW 2145 commencing at 7.00 pm
The 2018 Australian Title Calcutta requires compulsory attendance by ALL competing drivers.
The Calcutta carries 15 bonus points and are awarded on sign in of the event.
Note: The nomination fee also includes FREE entry to the Championship Calcutta for the competing driver.

Wheel Packing
If required all drivers must do wheel packing. Cars must complete as many laps as instructed.
Race Format
Heat Races:
Each car will contest a total of 4 heat races of 10 lap’s duration with a max of 14 cars per heat over the event. Drivers will receive 3 Heats on the preliminary night and a further 1 Heat on the final night of the Championship.
Each car will contest 3 heats on the preliminary night.
Total points from the 3 rounds of heats, plus any bonus points, will make up the Preliminary A-Feature.
The final night will consist of a final heat per car. Fields will be seeded by points with top inverted by 6 or 8 (dependant on amount of nominations) based from highest points from the preliminary night, plus any bonus points.
Total points from the 4 rounds of heats and preliminary night feature points, plus any bonus points will make up the qualifying positions for the Championship Features.
Heat Points:
Scoring of heats shall be 22, 19, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and 1.
No points will be awarded to drivers who are not classified as a finisher. Cars who receive the mechanical flag will be classified as a finisher.
Qualifying Night Preliminary A-Feature:
Top 24 cars will make up Preliminary A-Feature. Event grid positions will be determined by allocating points from the 3 heat rounds and bonus points earned, highest points to pole. Preliminary A-Feature is 20 laps.
No reserves required.
Points; 22,21,20,19.5,19.5,19,19,18.5,18.5,18,18,17.5,17.5,17,17,16.5,16.5,16,16,15.5,15.5,15,15,14.5.
All other competitors to receive points as 0.5 of last finish position
Points to be readjusted for any other size field.
Tied Points:
Tied points are split by using drivers’ quickest lap time from the heats that have been run up to the feature events.
Championship Features
Points accumulated from the 4 qualifying heats and Preliminary night Feature, plus any bonus points will be calculated to determine the qualifying positions for the championship features.
Championship A-Feature:
The top 20 on points are qualified for the Championship A-Feature, highest points to pole.
The remaining 4 positions will be filled from the Top 4 place getters in the Championship B-Feature. The defending Australian Champion can also elect to start in 25th position should they not directly qualify for the event. The event will be contested over 35 laps.
After the AWSR National Championship A- Feature the top 5 cars will be impounded for weighing, engine checks and sealing of motors for post-race engine checks.
Championship B-Feature:
Those qualifying in positions 21 to 38 have qualified for the Championship B-Feature, highest points to pole. The top 4 finishers will transfer to the Championship A-Feature. Both 5th and 6th place getters in the Championship B-Feature will become reserves if required in a complete re-start without a full lap being completed. The event will be contested over 20 laps.
Championship C-Feature:
Those qualifying in positions 39 to 56 have qualified for the Championship C-Feature, highest points to pole. The top 2 place getters will transfer to the Championship B-Feature. The event will be contested over 15 laps.
Championship D-Feature:
Those qualifying in positions 57 to 74 have qualified for Championship the D-Feature, highest points to pole. The top 2 place getters will transfer to the Championship C-Feature. The event will be contested over 10 laps.
Championship E-Feature:
Those qualifying in positions 75 to 92 have qualified for Championship the E-Feature, highest points to pole. The top 2 place getters will transfer to the Championship D-Feature. The event will be contested over 10 laps.
Rain Out / Non-running of Championship Feature
The rain out date scheduled for this event is Sunday February 4th 2018.
In the event the Championship Feature is not run but ALL qualifying heats are completed the following will apply;
- Australian Champion will be determined from qualifying nights total point score
- In the event there are tied/equal points the Australian Champion will be determined from the fastest lap recorded in the qualifying heats
- 50% of the Championship prize pool only will be paid in the event the Championships Features are not completed.
***If ALL qualifying heats are not completed the Australian Championship will not be awarded nor prize monies paid.
Priority Pit Parking
Please contact venue if you wish to reserve any pit parking spots for the entirety of the event. The venue management would like to offer teams the option of securing an allocated pit bay. There are 45 in total available at $80 for the weekend payable to the speedway office via Ashley. Teams would have access to the venue from Thursday morning and those who secure a bay will be sent their bay allocation number in advance of arrival. The allocated pit bays have power and are situated on concrete.

Engine Checks
The top 5 cars from the Championship A-Feature must make their car available for engine checks immediately following the completion of the event. The cars MUST immediately go to the designated impound area as advised by AWSR officials upon exiting the track at the completion of the Championship A-Feature. The only people allowed in impound area are AWSR Officials, driver of the car and 1 crew member to help pull down any part of the motor that is requested by AWSR officials. The top 5 place getters in the Championship A-Feature will have their motors sealed and/or removed from the car and sent to an AWSR approved inspector.
If your engine is sealed and referred to be checked at an AWSR appointed independent engine inspector, it must be presented to the independent inspector within 21 days of the event. The engine seals placed on the engine MUST not be removed. If the engine is presented with either tampered seals or if any of them are removed/missing the engine will be deemed illegal.
If the engine is deemed to be illegal the owner of the car will have to pay for the cost of pulling down the engine and the checking. If the engine is not found to be illegal the AWSR will cover that cost for having the engine dismantled and checked and the cost of an OEM gasket set or monies up to the value of $300 upon providing a purchase receipt if the car owner purchase their own gasket kit. The cost for reassembly will not be paid for by the AWSR. Car Owners will be responsible for reassembly and any associated costs incurred.
The AWSR also reserve the right to randomly seal any motor at any time during the title event and send to an independent engine builder appointed by the AWSR where a full pull down inspection will be carried out.
If the motor is found to be legal the cost to return the motor will be covered by the AWSR. If the motor is deemed to be illegal any costs incurred by the AWSR and the cost to return the motor will be at the car owners expense.

Note: Qualification for tow money, is by the Residential Address of the car owner as listed on their road going state drivers licence. Proof may be required.
Total Tow Money budget is capped at $12,000. Rates quoted above will be revised as required to fit within budget.

Immediately following completion of the 2018 Australian Championship A-Feature race the top 5 cars to be
weighed with drivers in car and then cars to be impounded for engine checks.
Provisional Trophy presentations will take place immediately after the place getters cars have been weighed. In the event of a dispute or failure to meet the engine specifications, the results and trophy presentation may be amended. Trophies will be retained by the AWSR after the presentations if a dispute is formally and correctly lodged.
