This workshop is an introduction to different concepts related to dance and movement. It will give the participants tools to develop their movement practice and to expend their technical, expressive, and creative range of movement possibilities.

Participants will be exposed to a number of subjects providing a wide overview of the world of dance and its applications to other movement practices.

WORKSHOP SCOPE:

Coordination - Develop neurological connections, expand movement complexity, and increase capacity for information management with a range of coordination drills using different parts of the body in varied relationships to each other.

Floor Work - Learn how to negotiate the ground - going in and out of the floor, gliding, rolling, melting and organizing yourself in communication with the ground.

Gaining confidence in bringing your body close to the floor in different ways is an important ingredient for movement freedom as a tool to improve your daily activities and your general wellbeing through the conditioning of joints, improving ranges of motion, displaying sequential ability and expression.

Manipulating the body with softness and efficiency over a surface that is hard and non-forgiving is a highly valuable skill for anyone who moves on this planet and under its gravity.

Spine Work - Develop a fluid, mobile, smart and resilient spine with easy to learn, progressive approach to Spine Segment Control - spinal waves, spirals and circular patterns used to construct an improvised spinal motion that can be used both for healing, injury prevention, self expression, mobility and improving efficiency in any movement that pass through the central axis.

WORKSHOP SPAN:

12 hours spread over 2 days, 10:00AM - 18:00PM on both days with a lunch break scheduled at 13:00-15:00
