2017 Queensland Schools Marathon Canoe Championships

Venue:  Lake Samsonvale, Austin Road, Cashmere

Important information about the venue :

All students must wear a life jacket when competing.

Access to the venue is through a locked gate. You will be supplied with a combination code which will enable you to open the gate. Everyone who opens the gate must close it behind them. If you have any difficulties with the gate, please call Michelle on 0414 960 722.

The speed limit on the dirt road into the venue is 40km/hr.

Please also note that there are two resident geese that are quite territorial. They are likely to disappear for the day, but students are advised not to approach them.

Entries:

  • Close MIDNIGHT Sunday 14 August 2017 - no entries will be accepted after this date.
  • Total fee will be $25 (AC Members) or $30 (Non-members) per person and includes entry to 2 races (one single and one double).
  • To receive the QC/AC member discount, you must by a 2017-2018 financial member. On registration, a check is done against the membership database. Please contact Michelle at QC if you have any queries about your membership. 
  • If you wish to register for two races, please complete the registration for the first race, When you get to the summary page, select "Add another Registration" BEFORE MAKING PAYMENT. This will take you back to the registration page, enter your child's name and details again and then select 'second registration' and the appropriate age/craft category. You will not be charged for the second registration.

The age you are as of 1st January 2017 determines your age group. e.g. if you are 13 as of 01/01/17 and turning 14 in 2016, you are in the under 14 age group. 

To compete in the open event you need to be under 18 years of age.

Rules
  • Championships conducted under ICF & AC Marathon Racing Regulation and Guidelines.
  •  Note at this venue all competitors must wear a life jacket.
  • All craft must have adequate fixed buoyancy or be constructed of a material that will have it float horizontally when full of water.
  •  Protective footwear should be worn.
  •  Students must race in school colours.
  •  Novice class: Mini K1 Under 11 and 12 only
