Act-Belong-Commit MT BROWN RUN-WALK-CYCLE – 16TH SEPT 2017

Introduction

Thank you for interest in the Act-Belong-Commit Mt Brown Run-Walk-Cycle. This event is an extension of the two day York Festival and for 2017 we aim to attract runners, walkers, cyclists and duathletes to this event. The Mt Brown Run is in its second year while the Run-Cycle-Run segment is in its inaugural phase.

As a big departure from 2016 – the 2017 event will be held totally on paved roads and will have electronic timing chips for all participants.

We are encouraging participants to contribute to the local Shire of York community by staying overnight and by also participating in the other aspects of the York Festival.

The York Festival supports mental health awareness initiatives through the Kai Eardley Fund.

Out of tragedy, comes and opportunity for change. The aim of The Kai Eardley Fund is to create positive change for the mental health of our youth and to honour the life of Kai Eardley. Suicide is now the biggest killer of men aged between 19 and 45. Twelve men are lost to suicide every day. Our hope is to reduce this number. Notations

    1. Participants get to leave in waves which reduces pressure on event grounds area.
    2. Wave starts created to reduce footprint of runners and cyclists on the road at the same time which is why the slower and novice based runners / walkers will be clear by the time the serious and capable runners / cyclists are commencing
    3. Singular timing chip can be programmed for different phases of the runs and each person will have their own timing chip which will record their nominated distance / category
    4. Late registrations WILL attract a LATE REGISTRATION FEE which will be $10 per person on top of the registration fee for the event - simply because the numbers will need to be relayed to the START POINT via email and programmed beforehand. Late Registrations WILL NOT be permitted beyond 630 am.
    5. Two water stops which cover the required distance of close to 2 km is applicable and suitable per sports medicine guidelines.
    6. Unlike Triathlons we will NOT break down the recording of the Transition phase between Run-Cycle-Run. The overall total time is what Category #4 will get – no different from the other Categories.
    7. Walk through from Post Office to Official Start Point or Ride to this point is highly recommended as it is 1.2 km in distance each way and it helps with the WARM UP phase for this event as the ascend up Mt Brown is challenging.
    8. Lucky Draw TICKETS will be issued at the registration desk. Participants will need to be present to win the Lucky Draw prizes.
