Course Content:

 

The Advanced Physiotherapy in Older Inpatients Symposium aims to offer best practice updates and advanced practical skills for physiotherapists working with the Aged population. This unique day will include lectures from a range of leaders in their field. Group discussions will also be facilitated to discuss common aged care issues aimed at generating practical and novel approaches as well as an opportunity to network with colleagues from across Victoria.

 

Speakers will discuss the following topics in relation to the aged population:

 

  • Vestibular symptoms: assessment and treatment of the complex presentation

  • Inpatient management of acute and chronic back pain

  • Equipment and management strategies for bariatric and obese patients

  • Management of early and late stage Parkinson’s disease

  • The older shoulder: assessment and treatment of the complex presentation

     

    Snapshot presentations such as:

     

  • Amputee management

  • Differential diagnosis of movement disorders

  • Nutrition and pressure care

  • High intensity exercise in the older population





Target Audience:

 

  • Senior physiotherapists working in GEM and aged care services

  • Senior grade 1 physiotherapists with a developing knowledge of aged population management
