Brompton Urban Challenge Melbourne




The globally iconic, Made in London, Brompton folding bike is making its Santos Tour Down Under debut in 2017 with two great events for Australia’s Brompton community. 

On Sunday January 15, join the Brompton Urban Challenge,  a two wheeled urban scavenger hunt, exploring the city, uncovering clues and hints and discovering all that Adelaide and the Santos Tour Down Under has to offer. 


 Then, on the afternoon of Tuesday January 17, join us for the Treadly Bike Hire Brompton Sprint - a short, sharp test of speed for the fastest Bromptoneers in Australia. International Brompton Race Rules apply: Jacket and tie dress code and Le-Mans style start: riders must unfold their bikes before joining the race.

Urban Challenge - Additional Information

Urban Challenge Bikes - Bicycles other than Bromptons are welcome to join the urban challenge, but any non-Brompton riders must be accompanied by a Bromptoneer.

Urban Challenge Teams - The Challenge is an event for teams of 3 riders. All registrations are individual, but if you wish to specify another rider or 2 that you'd like to be teamed with, you can let us know as part of the registration process. Otherwise, we'll put teams together and you'll make some new friends with fellow Bromptoneers.

Urban Challenge Dress Code - There is no dress code for the BUC, but formal attire is encouraged and prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed.
Treadly Bike Hire Brompton Sprint - Additional Information

Sprint Bikes - To be eligible to race, you must ride a Brompton folding bike. In the case of any modifications or customisations outside of Brompton specification, race entry will be at the discretion of the organisers. Under no circumstances will bikes with any supplementary power sources, electric or otherwise, be permitted to race.

Sprint Dress Code - International Brompton race rules are applicable. Riders must wear a collared shirt and tie. A jacket is encouraged, but optional. Shorts, skirts and three-quarter length trousers may be worn if preferred, but visible lycra or other sports attire is not permitted. There are no restrictions regarding footwear. Riders must wear an Australian Standards approved helmet.
