EVENT DATE:
 Saturday 25th November 2017.
DISTANCES: 12km / 21km
REGISTRATION:
1-5pm.
RACE STARTS: Race starts from twilight (post 7pm).

A half marathon. 21km. We reckon it’s the perfect trail run distance. Achievable. Go fast-able. But what would make it better? Start it at twilight and run it into the night on the world famous Surf Coast! AND, for those who want a taste…add a 12km option!

Yep, the Afterglow – sister event to the Surf Coast Trail Marathon – will deliver all that in 2017. Half marathoners will dive into the coastal trails at Point Addis,

catching the day’s final rays before night closes in, before switching on the ‘glow’ – you mandatory headlamp – for that unique experience that is trail running at night.

Sweep through the Koorie Nature Trails of the Ironbark forest, drop onto the sands of iconic Bells Beach (near where the 12km runners will set off from), then weave your way on awesome trails atop the cliffs of Jan Juc, past Point Danger and then along the promenade of Torquay’s Esplanade – where all the town’s night owls will be awakening for their Saturday night festivities. What they’ll make of a bunch of glowing runners speeding past, who knows…but put on your best form for them, eh (and try not to blind them with your headlamps)?!

Finally, you’ll drop onto Fisherman’s Beach an (easy) sand run taking you past the music belting out at the finish line. First you have to negotiate a short, fun dune run, then double back and leg it into the finish. It’s Saturday night remember…time for a thirst quenching celebratory beer?

Enjoy the Afterglow. 21km or 12km. Either or…it’s going to get funky…
