Introduction:

The 2016 Heart Foundation Tour of York- Ride for Heart Health returns for the FOURTH year imitating the same picturesque route which won rave reviews from all participants from previous years.  It was for many not only an endurance ride – it was and still is designed as  progression ride for many up and coming cyclists wishing to do some form of cycling touring without the need for racing.

The 2016 Heart Foundation Tour of York is open to the whole community of Cyclists we aim for this event to provide for up to a maximum of 300 riders.  This is a cycling endurance event which will have support vehicles on route from Mundaring through the back blocks of the Perth Hills to Clackline and from there to York.  In York we will recess for brunch and then head back to Mundaring via the famous York climb to the Lakes Roadhouse and from there via the road shoulder along Great Eastern Highway back to Mundaring.

PIHCG will provide on route support with safety vehicles, first aid support, Enervit hydration along the way.  Participants will also receive the required route cue sheets and GPX files for the Tour.  Our charity partner is the Heart Foundation with our  secondary aim is also to provide support to our regional centres and we will be doing so with Brunch at York.  The arrangements for Brunch will be at your own cost and we will provide details of the various establishments that will be supporting our regional initiative.

Additional Information for Participants

  1. Specific route details, GPX files and cue sheets will be provided as a lead up to the event.
  2. All participants doing this ride please note that they are riding on roads where there is constant traffic and there are sections where there is heavy vehicular and road train traffic.   On all major roads where there is little or no shoulder, ALL riders MUST ride single file.
  3. Participants will be asked to ride with as best their group of friends and we will not allow more than 10 riders per Group for road safety and risk management reasons.
  4. PIHCG will place a Pace Rider up front next to the Pace car and NO participant will be allowed to outride and outpace the front Pace Rider.
  5. On the same, PIHCG will place a Tail End Charlie at the end of the Group and no rider will be permitted to lag behind.  Should the Tail End Charlie and Ride Director deem that the rider is struggling, they will be required to get on board the Sag Wagon.
  6. We will have a cut off time for arrival into York and cut off time for arrival back at Mundaring.  This is to ensure that we keep to our time line as planned.
  7. ALL riders MUST stop in York for the planned Brunch.  The cost of Brunch is at the personal expense of each rider and the organisers will provide the list of places where brunch can be served.  The stop duration in York will be for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  8. A designated stop and start point in York will also be provided and participants encouraged to patronise the various establishments as part of our support of the regions campaign.  We encourage riders to consume freshly made food as part of the experience of cycling touring and to minimise the dependency on processed based foods.
  9. Participants are reminded to bring their own cash and EFTPOS / credit cards for their own purchases.

10. Participants will be required to replenish their own water bottles at the stop in York as the water rations provided by PIHCG will be for the on route aspect of the ride.

11. We will be organising with Dome Mundaring for early opening hours for breakfast on the day of the Tour and arrangements for breakfast options will be provided if possible to participants closer to the date.
