GIWA runs two public forums each year for the Western Australian barley value chain to discuss the latest developments in marketing, breeding, research programs, agronomy & extension, variety rationalisation, variety accreditation, standards and MRLs.  The GIWA Barley Autumn Forum is typically held in Perth in the third week of March and the GIWA Barley Spring Forum is usually held in the third week of August in a regional location which includes field walks.

Representatives of the trade, Barley Australia, the technical accreditation committee the MBIBTC (brewers and maltsters), the tertiary research sector, DAFWA, GRDC, the National Working Party on Grain Protection, the Grain Market Access Forum, the National Residue Survey, and the Australian Export Grain Innovation Centre regularly participate in these fora.
