We are sorry to announce that Run for Russ has been cancelled due to lack of entries. We simply cannot cover costs. Everyone who has registered will receive a refund. Some people have asked us to keep their entry fees as a donation, but we are unable to do this with the registration system. If you'd like to donate to our cause, details are on our website www.heartchallenge.com.au. Our singlets are also available for sale at $20. Please see website for details. We are sorry to everyone who entered, especially people who've trained for this event. Don't give up, keep training, the Stawell Hospital Half Marathon is in 8 weeks and has a 4km run, 4km walk and also a team of 3 x 7km each, so get your team of 3 together. If you are up to 10km, you will be able to run a half marathon by the time this one comes around. There is a training plan on their website and registration www.srh.org.au The plan for heart challenge proceeds of 2012/13 is still to produce heart health information for our communities. Because we don't have the funds we were hoping for, it may not reach everyone we wanted to reach, but we will try our best. It will take time as we are volunteer based and don't get a lot of time to spend on this with our full time jobs. We hope to get there over the next 12 months. This will not be the end of the Heart Challenge fund, we will be back someday, somehow and will strive to continue to raise awareness and promote heart disease in the Wimmera Grampians. Thank you everyone for your support. Unfortunately some things are just out of our control. Don't forget to go to your doctor and get checked. You may think you look healthy but it could be a different story on the inside. Make an appointment. It could save your life. Jackie, Niki and the Heart Challenge team.
